Is canister gas available in kotzebue or will I be forced to use liquid stove? I know I can't fly any up with us. Is it legal to fly on bush plane?

you can have a bush order sent from town but you will probably have to pay a haz mat fee to get it there, same would go for white gas . Thats what they have to do to get the stuff you would buy there anyway.Check with Sportsmans whse ask about bush orders.

You can fly anything on a bush plane the pilot will let you. Ac and kic here in town generally have canister butane and white gas. You might consider amultifuel stove and just burn reg gas. It's a out $8/gal. Lot's cheaper than other options.

Thank you. Sounds like a whisperlite stove would be a better option than the jetboil.

Love my Whisperlite! My two trips on the Squirrel River and one on the Ambler proved its worth! I really, really need to get back up to that country. The headwaters of the Omar are my idea of Heaven. Ed

The AC store and KIC both have white gas and Propane but other type of fuel is just noth to be found. When I frieght anything up to Kotz I pay a 1 time Haz-Mat fee of $25 and pack as much propane as possible. NAC only charges you a Haz-Mat Fee per air way bill.
Good luck

KIC had one gal of coleman fuel yesterday, no canisters. AC has at this time a fair stock of canister propane ( $8) and gallon cans of Coleman fuel at $26/gal. Might think about bringing up a new, unused 10 lb propane tank and having it filled at the bulk plant. No hazmat fee( $50) that way. Can come freight or checked baggage. Sell or give away after the trip.
