cobrads group helped me decide to post this. I've been messing around with some LR shooting for some time now. Here's a group I fired at 950 yards a couple weeks ago. Now...This was fired with a factory Remington 700 BDL SS .300 RUM (barrel too) in a B&C Medalist Alaskan Ti (no bedding yet) and a re-worked Remmy trigger to 3 lbs (J-Lock gun, it's still on there) With a Leupold VX-2 4-12 AO sent to Leupold and now has a CDS in MOA. This is the rifle I drag around the hills of Montana, and have for 12 years, to hunt with. 190 grain Berger VLD, Retumbo in a Remmy case and a 215 primer. Once is good, I know it's only 3 shots, now I need to do it again. mtmuley [img]http:// [/img]

I'm working on it. Budget dictates this rifle for now. Gonna throw some ALRs in a week or so. mtmuley

Nice 950 yd group, well done.
It is better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6.

Popapi, I don't hunt with em......anymore. While pretty accurate in my rifle as you can see, just don't care for them when they hit a critter. My .243 spits out the 95 grainers pretty well also. No issues with how they shoot at all. mtmuley

just don't care for them when they hit a critter. mtmuley Why? 190VLD shooting as such= Grave Yard Dead..............with proper shot placement. Let my custom 300WSM Gradous shoot 185VLD's and above like this WAAAAY out there..............it'll be a done deal on my end!!!!!!

Sometimes I encounter critters that aren't way out there. That's where I don't like the results. mtmuley

Explain? Seems to me you may need to just stick with the regular AccuBond being BC is not all that important to you.....

Popapi, I like shooting a long way. I'm interested in BC for that reason. I like shooting targets a long way away, and game if I need to. I don't target critters simply because of a long range shot. If game is close, I shoot it. I don't like the performance of the Berger in my rifle up close and personal. Get it? The regular 200 grain Accubond has hammered an elk every year for the last 12 years in my rifle. 42 yards to 584 yards. See my point? And the BC of the "regular" 200 grainer is pretty good. I love shooting groups as posted. I'm betting I can do it with an Accubond, either flavor. I'll try it out and let you know. Sorry man, Bergers ain't for everyone. mtmuley

Seems like Bergers are for you being that YOU are using them....Bergers in my rifleS(except my current build) up close and out there get it done(33-604yrds), so no I don't get it........shot placement is the key on any bullet! See my point? . BTW please do try it with your ABonds(BOTH flavors as per groups above), and holla back at me very interested to see how they do my guys here have some pretty reasonable.....MIGHT have to atleast try the ALRs just to have something to do!

As with a lot of Berger users that encounter guys that don't prefer them on game, no, I guess you don't get it. They are super long range bullets. I JUST DON"T PREFER TO USE THEM ON GAME. Good shooting. mtmuley

I'm mighty proud you've got the 'hang' of LR! I've been doing it now going on for 60 years and it still grabs me by the azz every now and then!!

In a perfect world, with a perfect rifle, we would carry two loads and be able to use the same zero. Then one could use the AB's or something of another flavor and kill stuff up close without fear the bullet would destroy too much tasty meat. Then, if an animal decided to blow raspberries at us from WAY out yonder, we could throw a very sleek VLD his way and take the air right out of his lungs.
