I've got a blank from Brux that I would like to have recontoured to the specs of a Bartlein#3. Anybody know if they will do it and how much it costs?

I talked to Brux about a recontour once. He said they would do the recontour, and I think it was about $40 or $50.
I ended up selling the barrel instead, so I can't report on the quality of the work. Brux does good work with everything I have seen, however. I read here once Brux had tighter bores than other makers, but I have no firsthand knowlege.

Would Brux copy another manufacturer's maker or would that be considered a custom contour charge?

They'll do custom contours for a fee. I think. My last one was around $35. I had ordered a rem mag sporter and they sent me a #4 thinking it was about the same. I sent the blank back with a take off barrel and they sent me a new blank based off my take off in a few weeks.
I let them keep my mag sporter take off so they could lengthen it and make a trace for their duplicator. Now I have some more rem mag sporter contours on order and I won't have to pay a custom contour fee because they now have a template set up and ready to run one just as easy as they run a #3 or anything else.

I don't know if they could make you a copy of a Bartlein profile without a barrel to copy. When I talked to Norm a couple of years ago he said their contouring lathe wasn't a CNC so they had to have something to copy. Some of the other makers with CNC lathes have a gazillion profiles stored & just have to push a few buttons to spit out what you want.

Yep, not all MFGs use the same contour specs.
Brux will do pretty much any contour you want. Just give them the specs. They make a blank for us in the identical contour Rock Creek calls their "Sendero". I've also had them do lots of blanks in different variations from their standard contours. Just call them. Awesome service and an outstanding product. I'm running one of their barrels on my 6.5 Creedmoor.
