Walking beats flat, good to hear. No deer were harmed during this posting...... 10-4 on that! Still slow walking but there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Face shots are good. BD

Poobah got a question for you,I'm thinking of getting rid of the CZ 7x57 and buying a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 colt with a 5.5" barrel, what say you? I'm not the leopard, but if I had a 22" I wouldn't lust for a 5.5". She'd thank you in the morning. Or get both. Never hurts to have a spare.

If I was packing a ruger it would be the 5.5 inch flattop in .44 spl. just cause its on a smaller frame than the BH...otherwise the .45 colt cartridge/gun combo has lots of potential....

The 45 is made on a flattop frame these days too. 45 colt/45 acp convertible made for Lipseys I believe. 4 3/4 and 5 1/2 inch models in blued or stainless. I have one in a 5.5".....and to add to the coolness, I swapped on a Bisley gripframe.

bought a 308. how [bleep] am I? Is it belt fed??? 6 barrels and electric powered hopefully... Remember, it's always better to be the shooter than the shootee. BD

Elks, my opinion FWIW. Any quality big bore revolver that rides your hip comfortably is worth having. Shoulder rigs are good for bigger frames and perhaps longer barrels. That perspective stems from a 3 screw RSB I hunted with for over a decade before buying my first CF rifle. All that said I never met a pistol that was as practical as a rifle. Backup? Yes. Superior? Not in this life.
Not saying' they're bad but I do think they should be purpose specific and so forth.
BTW, I whacked a pig once with a S&W 2" .38 Spcl. Hornady 140 gr HBWC over 3 gr of Bullseye. Think I was bored or something. My backup was a 94 Win. Shot him in the face of course.

IIRC GSSP on here dropped a LARGE Moose w/a 45 Colt SS BH, either 4 5/8 or 5.5, but it worked great. Around my parts a 44 sp. would do great and lose the mag recoil and blast I don't need to shoot deer/hogs. Top loads are safe, effective, and modest to hand/ear. Now what were we talking about on this thread, 99s?
