just picked up a used Remington model 7 synthetic/stainless in 7mm SAUM had a Leupold VX 3 4.5-14x40mm that I had layin around that I'm goin mount and was thinkin about tryin some 160 grain Nosler Accubonds from it and was wondering what everyone else uses out of there 7mm SAUM? I think the scopes a little big for that gun but that's the only scope I have layin around.

what exactly do you want to do with it? If all you want to do with is is hunt whitetail a 120 or 140 barnes is more than you will need. If your thinking of making it a long range gun try the 168 berger VLD. You really don't need to go to a 160+ until you try to buck the wind beyond 500 yds . In the PA deer woods if it were mine a 120-140 would be a laser beam of death.

150 gr. NBT and a max charge of h4831. Use a mag primer, and load out as far as you can..

H4831 SC has worked well for me. 140 gr. pills are more than enough but mine shoots real well with 168 Bergers. You really can't work the 168's with the limited room in the mag box. If you fix the mag box with a Wyatts than the bolt can't come back far enough and you gotta grind on the bolt stop and bottom of receiver. I would start with 140's and see what happens.

For the 160 A-bombs, I like IMR7828SSC, and as was said, load them as long as you can get them.

160 Abombs and 162 Amaxs seat fine. Load them to mag max, 2.89 ish and dial all the way.

H4831, R22, R19, IMR4831 and hunter will all get you there.

My favorite cartridge....

I found mine terribly boring as it shot everything well and was easy to load for. I think that scope is a fantastic choice.

Remington M7 AWR for me, topped with a 3.5-14 Leica. H4831 is a very good overall powder though I've also had good luck with Ramshot Magnum.

My rifle really shows a preference for 140 AB's (3,050 fps) and 150 E-Tips (2,850 fps). The E-Tips are grouping in the 1" @ 200 yard category. The AB's are around 1.5" at 200. Truly superb accuracy.

In short, it delivers like a 280AI in a short action. Lighter, handier, very accurate.

I have had excellent accuracy from 160 AB's out of my Model 7. I have also had the same results from 150 gr Swift Scirocco II's.

I have a Leupold VX 3 3.5x10 on mine, and I would agree with your assessment on the 4.5x14 being a little big for the Model 7. I'm sure that it will do the job however.

Good luck!

You're right Hayden, the case is very similar to your Wizzum. The "Ultra" is Remington's proprietary nomenclature connecting these back to to their full-sized parents, the huge Remington Ultra Mag line.

Contrary to the "Ultra" marketing, your WSM has a touch more capacity.
