I have always used Leupold scopes with good success, only had to have two in for repair. I have on order a Vortex PST 2.5x10, MOA reticle to replace a 3.5x10 VX3 on my 30-06 Finnlight. I need, actually want, the scope to be 'on the reticle to 1000yds, the Vortex should do that. Question is , how does it rate amongst others?

The EBR moa has 30 moa of subtension built in. I don't know what your data is, but I ran the numbers for a 180 vld at 2800 fps, 3" high at 100 and came up with right at 29 moa at 1000.
That 30 moa of subtension was on the 6-24 PST. I have a 2.5-10 but I can't recall if they are different or not. If you know your dope vortex has the subtension info on their site.

Furprick,
I haven't used enough Vortex scopes to come to any firm conclusion about whether they're more trouble-free than others on the same price range. However, in general I've found Vortex optics of all kinds normally are a good buy in terms of optics, adjustments, and other features.

Price , features and warrenty are attractive. They tend to be on the heavy side as compared to comparable Leupold's. Weight is not a real factor on the rifle ( 6 oz more than the Leupold) for me. Thanks for the comments and we'll see how it goes. Will be using gun scope combination for moose, deer, and B-bear as well as 1000yd hunter class at a local gun club.

I Have installed several for friends and clients because of the price-point. In my experience, most of them are lacking in the eye relief department. I don't like putting them on magnums for that reason. Have not broken any yet.
