Thanks

Go check your local shops. Is there some on the shelves? That will answer your question. And it's a regional thing, too......

Bass Pro Shop has been able to keep it on the shelves all through the ammo shortage. I'm not sure if that is a good sign or bad...

One of the first back on the shelf in Ia., Mo., and IL. during the recent wide-spread shortage.

Boots- no problem finding it around here. If you need some and can't find it any where let me know-I work at Wal-Mart and my store is well stocked with .270.

The only ammo I can always find at the local WalMart is 270 Win. If one were to choose a new gun based on ammo availability alone, buy a 270.

Waiting to hear back from a guy on a Marlin xl for < $300, new in box. Figured it might be a good first for one of my boys.

last thing I'd worry about is if ammo is hard to come by. That too will pass.
And folks that are smart don't buy it one box at a time, at LEAST 2 years supply of ammo is now my minimum purchase for years already.
And I strive to buy enough bullets/primers/powder/cases when I get a new caliber, once I know what I'm going to shoot and it shoots well, to last the life of the barrel. Anything less just doesn't make sense these days.
buy dove loads 10 flats at a time and steel shot at least 2-3 flats a year if I'm hunting or not.

Seems to be the same reality around here.

270s are inherently accurate and 270 shooters are better than averge shots --- that's why there is so much 270 ammo on shelves now with the ammo shortage. An average 270 shooter is only going to need one cartridge per year to fill his deer tag, so unless he also hunts elk, a box will last him 20 years...otherwise it will only last 10 years.
An "arsenal" of ammo for a 270 shooter is only three boxes, or 60 rounds. Some people have more than that on hand only because bullet companies come out with new bullets in the caliber, and looneys like to try new things. Problem is, when you buy a box of 20 and shoot one, only to find it shoots to the same point of impact as every other load you've got, you're pretty much done shooting that box. So you end up with another 19 year supply of ammo...unless you also hunt elk, as mentioned before.
Hope this helped.

The 270 is the red-headed-bastage-step-cousin of the greatest cartridge ever invented , the 30-06.

some years back, a KMart near me in Miami was going out of the ammo business. I bought all the .270 they had, for a dollar a box of 20. I am still shooting that stuff. Dragged home over 1000 rounds.

Never been short on .270 Win ammo in Wisconsin. Matter of fact there is plentyo of it too. Good thing, not much I can't do with a 270 Winny.
