http://www.sfgate.com/politics/article/Pennsylvania-county-defies-state-gay-marriage-ban-4685657.phpPA is one of the last hold outs in the North East to sustain, "the laws of nature and of nature's God..." Founded by Christians and for Christians it is on the fence now and it may totter off into the land of sodom. They did not ammend their constitution like so many states did in Old Dixie but they do have a state law prohibiting deviant marriage, or rather defining lawful union to man and woman. The State's Attorney General, (a democrat) is going to publicly take a stance of dereliction if I understand the very last paragraph of this article. It will be interesting to see if the Republican Gov. can or will take a stand. I have little hope in the courage and tenacity of moderate Repuclicans. Karl Rove has probably already called him and told him to throw in the towel. EXCERPT: _______________________________________________________________ The licenses were issued a day after the county's register of wills, D. Bruce Hanes, said he would grant them to gay couples because he wanted to come down "on the right side of history and the law." Hanes said he studied the state Constitution and the recent Supreme Court decision that struck down parts of the Defense of Marriage Act before deciding last week to grant same-sex licenses. "I think the Constitution trumps the (state marriage) statute," Hanes said. "This to me is a fundamental civil right." Retired marketing executive Ellen Toplin, 60, and partner Charlene Kurland, 69, sought a license Wednesday after 22 years together. Both had previously been married to men, and between them have three children and one grandchild. Democratic Attorney General Kathleen Kane has said she will not defend the state's same-sex marriage ban, leaving Corbett and his legal team to defend the ACLU lawsuit.

Get used to it. Younger people aren't filled with hate, fear and tribalism as much as the old timers would hope. Over time more and more hated minorities are going to get equal treatment under the law. Deal with it.

Thomas Jefferson, having digested the essence of all that was good in the writings of John Locke, begins the Declaration of Independence with an appeal to the "Laws of nature and of nature's God..." What this means in context is clearly defined by Blackstone in his introduction and explanation of what law is. All of our "inalienable," God-given, rights, must conform to the "laws of nature and of nature's God..." or they are not rights at all. The Sodomite community seeks at every turn to trod underfoot the Declaration of Independence that stands in their way to a totally godless land of socialism and deviancy.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time by the blood of patriots and tyrants.
If being stupid allows me to believe in Him, I'd wish to be a retard. Eisenhower and G Washington should be good company.

There is also a lawsuit challenging the blue law banning hunting big game on Sunday. Religious oppression is really taking a hit in PA.

Kathleen Kane is nothing more than an activist...a female Eric Holder. Ahe has already decided which laws she will uphold and which she wont she is doing wverything she can to go after guns in Pa. However. Our state constitutional language, in my opinion is much clearer than the 2a. Instead of infringe. We chose shall not be challenged. That pisses her off. She has decided to change the law herself which allowed pa residents to get fla non resident pistol permits. Even if they did not have a Pa permit. Our state legislature has taken her to task over this issue but she continues to do as she pleases...

Over time more and more hated minorities are going to get equal treatment under the law. Deal with it. Sodomites are not denied equal treatment under the law. None are prevented from getting married. Reducing the debate to a question of "hate" is an intellectually dishonest way to avoid the real issue and is, itself, a hateful response. Marriage is a conjugal relationship between members of the opposite sex not a contractual relationship between any adults who want to hook up for sex. And for the record, equal protection is not rationally possible on the premises of the sodomy rights movement. Jordan

Thanks for the article! I hope a lawyer can jump on this thread and explain how all these offices interact and how the "chain of command" works in PA. I did not realize that the State's Attorney General was so independent.

Younger people aren't filled with hate, fear and tribalism But they are. It's just directed at morality and conservatism. As regrettably, neither do the vast majority possess wisdom, discernment, or common sense. That has always been the case with youth. Today that lack is particularly amplified due to culture, actually lack thereof, and the polarization resulting from targeted information from a plethora of new sources that has destroyed critical thinking.
We may know the time Ben Carson lied, but does anyone know the time Hillary Clinton told the truth?

Mr Jordan,
When you think of the dignified company that came together to sign their names to the Declaration of Independence, do the words, "hate, fear, and tribalism," come to your mind?
I am sure you would agree that courage resolve nobiltiy is a better way to describe them.
or "wisdom, dignity, resolve..."

First I would like to address your understanding of sodomy. You do realize sodomy is far more prevalent amongst heterosexual couples than homosexual couples simply due to their being far more heterosexuals. Women and men perform oral and anal sex with each other frequently. It's amazing to me that anyone could be unaware of this.
Second point is the utter ridiculousness of the argument that homosexuals are able to marry, as long as its not to someone they find sexually attractive. How assanine is it to claim we can't let people marry who they want because it will ruin the sanctity of a system where marrying someone you don't find attractive is perfectly legit.
If marriage was simply about a conjugal heterosexual relationship then I'm married to my girlfriend. But I'm not because we haven't signed a contract recognized by the state.

And [bleep] HUSH too!! Theres nothing religious about it. I hope they lose! It's entirely religious, that's why it's Sunday instead of any other day. All blue laws are religious oppression, there's no rational reason to ban something 1 out of 7 days.
