I'm looking for a new broadhead that can take down deer and hogs for the up coming season. I'm looking for a 100 grain expandable broadhead. Anybody have a suggestion for a very effective broadhead?

Does it have to be expandable to be effective?

For expandable, I like the Rage 2 Blade. For big tough feral hogs, I really like the Grizz-Tricks. Not expandable, but damn tough & super accurate. I wouldn't be afraid to use them on any type of big game.

Expandables will fail when you really need them the most! Just Sayin

If you just have to shoot an expandable, I'd go with Spitfires or Ulmer Edges.

If you just have to have expendables, then the NAP Spitfire would be my choice

While not expandable, the new toxic broadheads look promising.

Haven't seen those, I do remember one thing very clear though, I shot my first bow deer back in the mid eighties with an old Martin Lynx Magnum bow and a 125 gr Thunderhead.

If a deer is capable of bleeding more than that one, I haven't seen it to date. smile

Yea, I need some new 4 blade muzzy heads. They work great on deer, bear, and elk.

You can't beat those or slick tricks.

I killed my 1st deer with a bow 32 yrs ago with a bear razorhead since then I think I have used and killed deer with just about every brand of broadhead you can think of...and as I look back on all of the deer I have taken with a bow that old Bear razorhead would have worked on any of them !

In the sixties and in high school, we didn't know we had to sharpen them and we lost several deer. They were advertised to be sharp and ready to hunt. They weren't. The razor inserts were anything but sharp and were difficult to sharpen.

I've killed deer with the three blade rocket expandable much quicker than I ever did with the older razor heads and I didn't have to sharpen them. They will get caught in high grass however. I have had arrows come out the other side of deer bear and elk with them and they don't go far.

With the four blade muzzy they go less far- and I don't have to sharpen them.

I still use the bear razorheads. killed a lot of animals with em. Plus cleaned everything from grey squirrels to ground hogs and fish. I'm gonna stick with em(pun intended). I have collected more of them than I will ever use.

The NAP blood runner works quite well. I prefer Muzzy MX3's. I tried the Rage broad heads once, never again. Shot a good size doe at 30 yds and only got about 3" of penetration.

Buy yourself some Rage 2 blades, and be done with it.
