Ah ha! The truth comes out at last.

A 45-70 shooter who admits (though not on the marlin board!) that the 444 is pretty good. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Well, you got a pretty good collection there. I want to get the 22 and 22 Mag versions. Mine currently consists of:

30 carbine (model 62)
44mag (model 1894)
45 Colt (model 94 winchester)-unfired! someone make me an offer so I can buy a Marlin, PLEASE!!!
444 Marlin (model 444s)
450 marlin (model 1895M)

Now, the interesting thing is that I have a single action revolver in the same caliber to go with each, including :

Ruger Blackhawk 30 carbine
Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 Mag
Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt/45 ACP (interchangable cylinders)
BFR in 444 Marlin
BFR in 450 Marlin

Are the ever going to offer a matched set in 500 S&W?

Mine are:

Marlin 1895M Guide Gun (450 Marlin) ported.
Marlin 1895MR (450 Marlin) 22" barel
Marlin 1895 Cowboy (45-70)
Winchester 1895 (405) this one is unfired and has the pretiest rainbow case hardening I've ever seen. I'm contemplating on whether I ought to scope this one or not.

Win. trappers in .44 mag, .357 and .30-30

Win. carbines in everything from Ranger models to semi-fancy, no collector editions, not my thang. All in .30-30

Marlin 336's in .30-30 (couple of those IIRC)

1 stock Marlin SS 1895 GG in .45/70 (project awaiting completion)

1 Marlin WWG version, parkerized (always have loved that finish) tuned trigger, ghost ring sights w/ sourdough front ramp (best way to fly IMO)

Oh and back at my mom's place a Win. 22, egads can't remember the model number and can't find my book of records listing my firearms. How embarrasing, twas my first rifle, smooth receiver like a S99, not the 9422, someone help me out here. I'm pizzed at myself now.

One of these? ........ Winchester Models 150 & 250

A buddy of mine had a Model 250 when we were kids, and he killed a mess o' critters with that thing, around the family farm. Some of 'em on the wing, too, as I remember. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Good times.

Thanks Walker,

Due to the collective knowledge of this place even dumbazzes like me can know what they own! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

I've got the 250, really sweet little rifle, but I leave it back at my mom's. The woods on my grandparents farm, now mine and my sisters (at least the 100 acres that are left) that little rifle was pretty much my constant companion. My dad gave me that rifle for my 12th birthday.

I don't get back there as much anymore, and when I do gram and gramps are no longer there, but that little rifle is there and waiting to transport me back in time, a little, skinny 12 year old with his chest all puffed up cause he walked the woods armed and immediately moved him up the food chain because of it.

I could feed a passel of folks if I had all the cotton tails, and red and gray squirrels I shot with that thing laid out on one table.

To this day whether there on that 100 acres or in the middle of nowhere in the Brooks Range, I can find the place inside of me that is calm, still and contented with a good rifle in hand whether in timber or high on a rocky outcropping.
