Alright guys, lookin for a good reliable load that will get me out to 600 +\- for bangin steel and deer mostly. Been eyeing up the 200 grain game king since it has a pretty good bc and sierras just seem to shoot.. The gun is a ruger 77 mkii 300 wm with a bushnell 10x40 elite tactical mil/mil.. May not be the "elite" set up for longish range shootig but its what i got and the gun shoots really nice with a lighter trigger spring in it. Im just lookin for people that have tried this bullet set up and a starting point for load developement

I haven't killed anything with them but they shoot well. Try 70.5 grs H4831, 72-73 Rl22, and lastly for my rifles 75-78 H1000. Good luck and report back.
Good Shooting!

I use H 1000 and a stout load at that...for 220 grainers...
Using factory loads, ( Federal ) I nailed a monster buck with a 200 grain Sierra out of a 300 Win Mag at 100 yds, just as the sun was going down on the last day of the season...
blood and lung parts in a 2 ft radius where he went down on his nose and then jumped off and took off into the swamp he was heading into when I nailed him...
lost that one, even tho I spent the night out there and looked for him from sun up to noon the next day... never found him...
called Sierra's tech line, and they told me that their 200 grainer was a very hard bullet and meant more for elk than deer...
said at that distance, the bullet probably passed right thru the deer and never opened up before it exited out the other side...
This was easily a 300 lb plus Minnesota Whitetail...
haven't used it since...now that I hand load, I use other bullets besideds that one.. when I want to maximize the old 300 WinMag, I use a healthy dose of H 1000 and a 220 grain RN....
its a hammer on whatever it hits....

Anyone else use/try this bullet set up.. So far ive decided h1000 as the powder, but looking for more opinions on the effectiveness on game/accuracy at longer range

Can't give u any sierra advise but in my 300 RUM the 200 Accubond is my go to do all bullet. High BC, accurate as hell and performs fantastic on game.

Accubonds are explensive, and still too new without any real testing on how they perform and how the claimed bcs hold up

20, I have shot these some in my old .300 over Re 22.. Killed one 3x3 mulie, and one cow elk with them.. Then I moved on to other bullets.. It did fine on those two animals, but that is hardly and indication of how they preform.. I will say, as much as I like Serria bullets, it was NOT the most accurate 200 grain bullet for me... But that is just one rifle.. More and more I am leaning and using Nosler BTBT or Accubonds.. I have shot a bunch of game with BTBT, and some game with Accubonds.. So far they have performed fine...

Thanks for the info! My plan is to shoot either te 180 or 200 grain range of bullets.. If the 200s shoot great i wont look any further, but both thos oftions in the sierra have a respectable bc to get me out to the ranges i want to shoot

Accubonds are explensive, and still too new without any real testing on how they perform and how the claimed bcs hold up Accubonds are terrific proven game bullets and the claimed BC in one exhaustive test came very close to reality. Check LRH for info. As for cost???? 61 $ for 100 premium bullets is nothing. As for the Sierra that made jacket core separation a household name? Not for me.

I've tried the 200-grain SGK in my M-70 Laredo with both IMR-7828 and H-1000. The latter gave the better accuracy.
Keep your gun-hand ready and your eyes peeled.

Age old problem of convincing guys you don't use a C&C bullet in magnum velocities. Out at 600 yards they may be ok, but at 100 credible performance varies. There is a reason why they say not to push those bullets at velocities past the 2800-2900 fps velocities on game.
As for the deer that was not found. I guarantee it was not a dead center lung shot. My guess would be too far back and clipped a lung. Deer can go long ways on one lung or the back lobe clipped. Lotsa bullet failures are blamed on this and since the deer was not found, it makes it easier.
I have been using Sierra GK in the 180 and 220 weight for many years and have not been disappointed. This is out of an .06 though. I sure wouldn't use them in a 300 mag unless I was darn sure I would never try to kill a deer or elk or ? within 300 yards.
If God wanted you to walk and carry things on your back, He would not have invented stirrups and pack saddles
