I am looking for a 55gr or less .224 bullet that won't disintegrate when hitting pronghorn and TX hill country whitetails from a 22-250. Years ago I found that the 60 gr nosler solid base had a heavier jacket and did not disintgrate on coyotes and I a few pronghorn I used it on. This latest 1-14 twist barrel will not stabilize these 60 gr bullets.
What short .224 bullet can you suggest that has a proven track record for holding together on game?
Thanks Scott

I think I've got some of the old 53gr Barnes X bullets. If I do, I'll send them to you. PM me the addy. They're just sitting in a drawer taking up space.

Killed 100's d-map deer deer with 53 sierra. Dump trucks of yotes. Tough bullet spun them @ 4100 out of a cheetah to .223 . One of the best killers available!!!!!

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Now to find some available :-) Snake, I sent you a PM. I appreciate your kind offer. Rick, I've always shied away from a hollow point figuring they were a thin jacket for targets or varmints only. I have No real experience with them. I will have to try them if I can find them.
I appreciate the help! Thanks Scott

63g Sierra will stabilize in a 1-14 twist, and I think that the 64g Winchester will also.
The 55g Hornady Sp is the toughest of all the 55g bullets that I have ever shot and the 55g Sierra is close behind.
Killing a goat is easy, last one I shot was with a 223 at 470 yards with a 55g Winchester(soft lot) at 3100fps muzzle velocity, dropped like a toilet seat.

The 55-grain Winchester soft-point will stabilize in a 1-14 twist and works fine on deer-sized game. It also normally shoots very well.

I've had great luck with the Hornady 55gr. sp out of my 220 Swift on some pretty good sized whitetails.

A 14-twist .22-250 will stabilize the 63 Sierra and 64 Winchester. I've culled many Texas does with these bullets from this cartridge. I've even used the Sierra on a buck or three....

A 14-twist .22-250 will stabilize the 63 Sierra and 64 Winchester. Will stabilize a 70gr Speer semi-spitzer as well. Tough on deer. Works in a 223 as well

I'll second the 63 gr sierra. Shoots great out of my old 22-250, 788. My kids have dropped well over 25 deer that combination and only one required more than one shot. Great bullet.

Works in a 223 as well The 70 Speer is a short bullet (I call it "the blob") but it still surprised me to learn that a 1/14 would stabilize it well (at 22/250 speeds). ...slowest I have is a 1/9 so it's no difference to me, but still nice to learn. Thanks for posting that.

My favorite 22-250 deer bullets are either of the Hornady 60 grain bullets, soft point or hollow point. I think the HP is a bit tougher but I have had both zip through Texas whitetails on broadside hits that don't involve the edible portions. Years ago I used the 70 gr. Speer also with no complaints in my 223. I have never owned a 22-250 that had anything but a 14 inch twist.
