An escaped pet?
As a kid in the 1950's, someone in the Burksgarden, Va community brought two coyote pups back as pets. They were not native to the region in that era. On their first free range walk they took off. One was immediately road killed and the second with a little more savy took to killing sheep over the next couple years. If memory is correct, the fellow that gunned him down collected 5 grand. Not small change at that time.

What group was it that kept hundreds of wolves for pets to turn loose when they were put on the endangered list? There was a bunch in MT as I remember. Could be on of the planted wolves?

What prison is that shooter going to die in? This being Kentucky, we don't mind a little necessary killing.

What prison is that shooter going to die in? The article says that there will be no charges. No one had an expectation of killing a wolf, so I guess he reasonably thought it was a coyote.

There are persistent, but so far un substantiated reports of Red Wolves coming back in Florida. The were native to the State, and common until the 60s and 70s.

That gray wolf was on his way to D.C. to lobby for a reinstatement of total federal protection.

1minute--ole timers in Burks Garden, Va still talk about it. I believe it was one of the Lee Brothers from Arizona they brought in. I disremember iffin it was Dale or Clell.
In the early 70's I was offered $600 by a mine owner in Tazewell for 2 live coyote pups. I didn't do it--but I understand they is plenty there now.
