Went into our local BiMart last night looking for something else and did my customary check at the ammo counter and there was a pretty good shelf full of Federal Gold Medal Target and some CCI standard velocity so I picked up my quota of 4 boxes and my son got me 4 more boxes of the Federal @ $3.79 each. Hope to get back there today and get some more before it is all gone. This is the first real, new .22 ammo I've seen available in months priced less than a mortgage payment..... Hope it shoots as well as it is reputed to. Bob

Sheister: Is that Federal stuff the "new" "Automatic Target" ammo? I saw it recently myself and bought one box - it was pricey but I forget how much it was. Unfortunately it is round nose ammo and I need/prefer hollow-point ammo for virtually all of my uses. I am guessing that the CCI standard velocity ammo you found was round nose ammo also? Again I will be pleased as punch when this latest hussein obama induced scare is over! Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

I gave away a bunch over the weekend. Gave it to people shooting it, not piling it up. miles
Look out for number 1, don't step in number 2.

Hold into the wind VarmintGuy Yeah, I would have preferred the Winchester Power Point, but these days any .22 ammo, especially quality stuff, is almost impossible to find. Heck, long before the shortages started Power points were almost impossible to find already.I'm trying to find some quality ammo to try my new-to-me 40X and check on my 52B before squirrel season. A buddy found Winchester Super X at a gun shop about a month ago for $35 a brick, but the line was around the parking lot and the limit was one brick. I hope he got at least one brick. Miles, if that post was aimed at me you're wasting your time. I can easily go through a brick or more a day hunting a sage rat field and ammo doesn't "pile up" for long around my place. It gets shot when the seasons come around, and when I need to sight in a new rifle, scope, or pester some cans around the camp fire. Bob

I was WM late a few Fri nights ago. They had WW 555 (36 grain, big hollow point) and also allowed me to buy 3 boxes. I was glad to get it as I had to borrow from a friend to get thru Gopher season. -- about $24 per box.

Larry, $24 for a box (50) or a brick? Seems like a lot of money for a box.

WW Powerpoints have been near impossible for me over the last 5 years. Fortunately on my last opportunity I loaded up with a few cases. Great fodder in an Anschutz for ground squirrels.

I have seen some 22 ammo popping up lately. I picked up a box of 525 and three boxes of 50 at Sportsman's Warehouse last week. My buddy picked up a box of 500 yesterday at Tom and Joe's Guns.

Our Wal-mart has been getting different brans of 22 lately. I started being selective and getting one brand only. It is getting better here. Although the price went up from 14.27 for 325 to 19.97 for 325. I feel better with some under my belt.

The 22ammo is coming back around here. Fed auto match has been hitting the shelves at bobs in Longview, sunbirds in Centralia , and today at cabelas here in Lacey . I've been checking those three places a couple of days a week after work and now have around 10000 round stocked away for the weekly match I shoot.

Geeze, don't admit ya have that much ammo, or someone is bound to accuse thee of being a hoarder? Or worse, a profiteer, even if you ain't selling any! Figured out the other day, that if I shoot our club's indoor CMP three position matches this year, I'll need about another 5 or 6 boxes of Fed. Auto Match. That generally runs from mid October until the end of March. That's roughly 22 weeks of burning up ammo each week. Woe is me. May have to shoot sub-standard ammo most of the winter, when the Auto Match runs out? ;O)
If three or more people think you're a dimwit, chances are at least one of them is right.
