Any version of the 7's! Way better bullet choice's and if you needed to you could step up a bit more in weight.

I've got both, and either will work for the loose description you give. If you intend to shoot lighter bullets, 140-150 I would go with the 270; better BC and high velocity. If you want to go with heavier bullets, no doubt the 7. There's not much difference it them. Either way you win.

Ahhh, Your right! Forgot that detail because I never look at the .284 in that weight. I use 180's. Damn, I hate crow! Okay, smart guy, why is it the .277 has a lower BC? No, really, why is that?

Because you can make the 7mm pill longer and keep the weight the same.... same reason the 55 grain .243 NBT has a higher BC than the 55 .22 NBT. That 1/9" factory twist will always be the ace of spades vs. the .270's 1/10"....
You better pray to the God of Skinny Punks that this wind doesn't pick up......

I may get laughed off the board being the minority on this thread, but I am huge 270 WSM fan.
My rig is a Rem 700 with a 26" Pac-Nor pipe. My hunting load is MagPro powder and 140gr Accubond that stroll along at 3360fps. Can't argue with the fact about the heavy 7mm slugs, just don't have a use for them for any of my hunting situations.

There must be some difference in the profile of these bullets to make a larger diameter bullet with a higher BC when the weight is identical. I'm curious why Berger is using what ever profile it is using on the .277, instead of ending up with a same weight bullet of smaller diameter and higher BC. Besides, this information has shot holes in my defense and promotion of my new favorite caliber!
