.... And I just picked up my first .257 Weatherby! First Weatherby of any caliber actually. Blued Vanguard S2. Mounted a Leupold 4.5X14 in Talleys on it. Will take it out and run some 80gr factory TTSX loads through it tomorrow.
This is my first new rifle in a number of years and I am very excited to see what she'll do.
Will post pics and results in the am.

The Vanguard is a lotta gun for the money.

Thanks guys. It has been a while. Dog gone life anyways! HA. Range report is as follows.... The Weatherby Vanguard S2 in .257 Weatherby Mag shoots Weatherby factory ammo into an inch as promised. The 80grn TTSX went where they were supposed to. I like the feel of the rifle. I even have come to tolerate the lines of the stock with its GRIPTONITE panels. The trigger, however, is another story. I don't mind the two stage trigger concept. But the poundage required to get the trigger to break is outrageous. Did not have a trigger scale with me, but WOW! I even tried to follow the directions in the owners manual for adjusting the trigger, with no effect. Not saying all Vanguard triggers are crap, just that the CMMG two stage trigger in my AR is a far better trigger than the one on MY Weatherby. I think a Timney Trigger is in my future! Over all I enjoy the gun. Pleasure to shot. Can't wait to put it to good use this fall!

If it's anything like my Accumark in 257 Roy........ it will push a 100 gr. partition at over 3,600 fps. MV, and kill the hades out of hogs and deer. GWB

I think a Timney Trigger is in my future! Is a S2-compatible Timney available yet?

Nice grab!
After a one year stint with a quite pretty 7mm MAshburn Super on deer (it worked well enough) I am now back to the 257WBY as my deer blaster. Just aquired via trade an FN Commercial Mauser in 257WBY, and made a deal yesterday for a Burris Gloss 4-16x44 Signature series scope with Posi Lock. Don't need target type turrets and such with 257 Weatherby speeds and trajectories. Now to locate some 100gr TTSX bullets and I am on my way!
