Well... I was all set to use the Tikka as my primary hog gun at the end of the month. Then I went to the range this weekend to sight in my Savage .338 Federal (haven't shot it in a year). From a clean, cold barrel it hit the 100 yard X on the first shot! Then I started thinking about how it knocks down hogs with no nonsense. I'm taking the .338 Federal, to heck with the extra 3 pounds!

As much as I hate to say it, the rings that come with the Tikka are not all that great. Talley makes a good light weight set for the Tikka. . Tikka rings are junk. I've had a scope slip in properly lapped and torqued factory rings on a .308. Talley Lightweights are a nice option.
I should have just bought a [bleep] T3...

I used them on my Tikka T3 30-06 and they've held up well (+600 rounds). My only refinements were mild loctite on the base screws and some heel glue (Barge's Contact Cement) between the plastic rings and scope body - just a little. But I like the Burris Signature Rings best ! Never even bothered with the rings supplied with the rifle.

Here's mine, started out as a 308, rebored to a 338 Federal. Love this gun and round, great deer caliber here.

One cannot make a proper assessment as you know, w/o more info i.e. Bullet choice, impact speed, shot placement. Can't imagine any hog properly hit at most sane ranges would go far, if a bullet was used that gives some expansion, esp. the 185-210 class using good powders/loads. If I'm not mistaken HugaJackass's bride shot a hog with a .338 Federal at the hog hunt this past March. All who saw the performance were impressed. Not sure what bullet she was shooting though.
