blackhorn209, superb accuracy, powerful, powder lasts forever INCLUDING submerging it into water and then drying it off and using it, no need to swab, accurate from the first charge to the bottom of the can charge, no dust at the end.

BH209 in my Knight Extreme NFPJ. T7, FFFg in my Knight Mk85 and Swiss FFFG, black, in my flintlocks. It all depends on the rifle.

These are both great powders! I now shoot only BlackHorn 209. Bigblock 455 pretty much hit it. Shoot whichever shoots best out of your muzzleloader!

+1, much less fouling in the bore and less prone to corrosion if you can't swab right away.

I'm using Triple 7. Mainly due to having to purchase a new breech plug that will work in my CVA Wolf for the BH209. The T 7 seems to work just fine.

BH209 light off OK with a musket cap? No, it will not! Thus the name BH......209. Needs a high powered 209 primer to go off, not the Kleanbore or 777 209 primers. And as to the original question: I concur BH 209 is what I love to shoot. HOWEVER, you didn't say what gun you shoot. BH209 will not shoot out of every gun. My T/C renegade will be using 777 this fall when I hunt for an elk, because you can't get it to ignite BH209.

I started with Pyrodex (years ago) it worked good, but was a pain to clean.
Then 777 came along and me and my sons used it (loose) for improved speed, very good accuracy, with no problems lighting it up, but it created a crud ring and I had to swab between shots to maintain accuracy.
A couple of years ago I started hearing about BH209, gave it a try.... long story short, If you know anybody wanting to buy some 777 tell'em to contact me.

not hard to clean bh209 off a breech plug. I used hot soapy water with a tooth brush and then run a drill bit down the flash channel to remove the carbon. Dry and reinstall.

Agree that cleaning the breechplug is not that big of an issue. Have shot as many as 30 times at one session with my Knight LRH using BH209 without having to clean the breechplug. Here is a link on the BH209 website about how to clean the carbon buildup out of the breechplug: http://www.blackhorn209.com/specs/breech-plug-cleaning/However, LFD: we still don't know what gun you are using, so we can't say whether or not you can actually use BH209. It will not work in all guns. What gun are you shooting???
