Heck I didn't even know we had one. I used to hunt the "tzone" a lot in WI. I'd take time off work and everything. It was great. I virtually had the woods to myself.

I sure would be interested.

I don't know where they might be doing early antlerless this year either. In past years I'd have heard about it up here by now. We are a lottery area this year so I doubt there will be any early season for chickenbuck.

According to the MN DNR website there is a youth antlerless deer hunt from Oct 17-20 in about 25-30 permit areas listed on the web site. In the north central part of the state in zone 100 it includes permit areas 101,105,111,and 114. Also virtually all of NW MN north of Hwy 2 in zone 200 is included as are most of SE MN in the 300 areas.

I get to have an early doe hunt just because I turn 65 this year. Oct 24, 25, 26. One of the perks of getting old.

WI has a youth hunt, but no old fart hunts.

I'd be up for it, but I don't have anywhere to go either. I can't figure out why they don't include 601.

If you are talking about the youth hunt in MN, 601 is included as is 602.

I've got a busy weekend, but I'll try to do a little research and see what I can figure out. Maybe this would be a good excuse for a Campfire get together guys.....

Where the heck is that? MN makes the deer season pretty complicated. Split seasons, some 9 day, some 16 day, opening day different in different areas....

I am a big proponent of the youth season but why the heck is it antlerless only? Let the kiddo's shoot bucks, the bowhunters get to do it.

the problem that other states have run into was Dad getting their kid a youth tag and then goes and shoots a big buck before others can be hunting. or the dad takes the gun from the kid and shoots a big buck if it comes in. rare, but it has happened, does more harm than good to the youth. although not ideal, I do understand the doe only rule. if only people could be accountable again and strive to do the right thing.

We had a deer check station at our store for many years and I saw this first hand many times . Dad would be all excited and and wouldn't shut up and the pour kid would kid look at the ground and rub his toe in the dirt and when asked about the hunt the kid would just shrug his shoulders it would just piss me off Royal

Doesn't take much to figure that one out does it mule? pizzes me off, bad enough that some camps treat the youth tags like extras that they race to fill... But to take a kids early season tag? That's low, slum dog, spineless dirt bag low.

Worse than selling a F350 crew cab with a V-plow? That is low. smile
