Guys, a couple of squirrels have moved into an upper crawl space at our house by chewing through the thin screen opening and I would like to close it off with some heavy hardware cloth without trapping them inside for obvious reasons.
Any ideas on making some safe smoke to hopefully make them vacate the premises.

Pour some grain outside, smoke them there....just providing an alternative solution.

Denny, I think I'd toss a box trap up there with some peanut butter and relocate them back up to that back pasture (or a hot skillet, your choice!  ) vice smoking up the place. Allen

They make these adapters to connect your cars exhaust pipe to a garden hose. Have everyone leave the house for 24 hours and fill the attic with carbon monoxide.

There is an electronic noise maker or strobe light (can't remember which) that is made for driving squirrels crazy. It drives them out and won't hurt your attic or anything up there other than the squirrels. They will leave the way they came in. don't patch anything before they have left or they will go crazy in your attic. My brother used one in his attic and it worked like a charm.
