I have a 338 Winchester mag shooting a tang safety Ruger.

Normally I gather all powders I have and come up with a load but trying to save some primers and powder hope to save a few rounds by trying some loads other people are having luck with first.
I see nosler reload book say's RL 19 is the most accurate powder.
I bought a bunch of 200 grain Nosler Accubonds and was hoping some one had a pet load they were willing to share.

I have a good supply of 4895 RL19 4350 4831 varget in my reload stuff

Probably need to post this in the reloading section. I am sure you get a load or two there.

R-15 if you have it. I use it with 200gr ballistic tips.
Great accuracy, speed, and recoil is pretty tame for a 338 Win mag.
Makes elk very sleepy, very quick.

I shot 225s in mine, have to look up load data but I do know with RL19 it's a full case and runs 2750 fps @ 3/4 moa

my 338 RUM won't shoot NABs

There are a "few" somewhat standard loads for this absolutely superb "all-around" hunting/working cartridge, my all-time favourite. I started with 225 Hornady bullets, over IMR-4350, the older type in January, 1968, when I bought my first (of 13) .338 and started handloading.

I used this powder and H-4831, then RE-19 for some 22+ years and then started with RE-22 and H-4350, these are my "standbys" in my currently 6 rifles in .338WM.

After some use, I settled on 250 gr. bullets exclusively and find these preferable in MY hunting here in BC. I would perhaps go to a 225 NAB if I hunted more open areas and have not shot a lighter bullet in years.

My FIRST choice with what you want to try would be the 200 NAB over 4350, up to 74 grs, WW brass and a "mag" primer, start at 66 grs. You should be able to just break 3000 fps and this would be a flat and useful load, the RE-19 will also do very well here and some rifles will do about 3050-3075 with RE-19 and 210 Noslers....but, as always, go slowly and WATCH for the least signs of stiff bolt or marks on your caseheads.

I have been trying NABs in several of my rifles, so far, I am not getting the groups that these guns produce with NPs of the same weight and the last one, a nearly new P-64-70 in .300 H&H, the fourth of these I have owned and a rifle/cartridge combo that WILL shoot, IME, has been just mediocre in accuracy so far.

I am sure that there are other loads that will work, but, I have yet to shoot a .338WM, have shot at least 20 rifles so reamed, that will not do well with the "4350" load under the lighter bullets and RE-19 seems to do well under 200-250 gr. slugs in my rifles and those of several shooting cronies.

HTH, have fun, just a wonderful cartridge and NOT hard to learn to shoot well with some careful loading and starting with a few rounds every shooting session until you just do not notice the "kick".

Though not ABs, I've had good luck with 200gr BTs and 210gr Partitions over 65gr R15 (max work up to this). Mule Deer told me about that one. Kills as big and kicks less than the I4350 loads I was using previously.

My father and I both like 65gr of RL15 with 200/210gr stuff for 2,900-ish in a 24" barrel. Not really a creampuff in a sporter, but not a cannon either. Makes for a dang good deer/hog load as well.

I have been wanting to try some 200 ABs, so I loaded up a ladder series from 63.0 to 65.0 grains of RL-15--something to do while other barrels are cooling down.

I run 76.5 grains of RL19, with WW brass and a CCI250 primer along with the 200 AB.. Great load, runs about 3025 outta my rifle and is plenty accurate.

This was my target from last year, verifying my 300 yard dope on my Pre-64..

Aside from superb accuracy, one of the reasons I like RL-15 for 200-210 grain bullets in the .338 Winchester is that it's the least temp-sensitive of the Reloder rifle powders, and I often hunt in fairly cold temperatures, sometimes below zero.

According to Nosler's manual, RL-15 gives up about 80 fps to RL-19 with 200-210 grain bullets, and out at 400 yards that drops to around 60 fps. For most of my hunting I'm willing to give up a little top-end velocity for consistency, especially when at colder temperatures RL-15 loads are probably starting just as fast as those with RL-19, and maybe a little faster.

I have also used this combo with a couple 338's and the 200gr. Deadly combo!

Great info. Was going to do a little more with RL15, but it's sorta scarce right now whereas I have a ton of RL19. I might try it again though. The speed difference isn't enough to worry about.

WMRP
78gr H4831 right at 3050fps MOA accuracy

or
Max load H4350, my max is within in some books, over in others, so just work up with care.
3100 fps, sub moa accuracy.
