IIRC, there is no "youth season" tag, but any other valid tag can be used by an eligible youth in that season.
last year I bought my son a regular deer tag, and a bonus permit, so we could hunt in the early youth season, and would have used the bonus tag,so we would still have the regular season tag for "up nort".

Okay, so I picked up a copy of the regs and the deer season map, and here's what I've figured out so far.

The Early Antlerless season is Oct. 17-20th.

It's held in limited areas in Areas 345 and 346.

Limit is 5 antlerless and those 5 don't count against your limits during the regular deer season.

345 and 346 are in Winona County. This si far southeast Minnesota. Beautiful country along the River.

I didn't specifically see it, but I believe it would be shotguns or muzzleloaders.

My first question is will any regular deer license (besides the early antlerless permit) suffice, or must you have a Series 300 license? We hunt during the regular season in Zone 1. Does anybody know the answer to this? I might call the DNR tomorrow and see what they say.

I've never hunted down there, so don't know if there's State Forest or public hunting areas down there. If it's all private property it may be hard to get in.

If anyone has any info on these questions, it would be greatly appreciated. If we can make this work, is anyone interested in a Campfire doe hunt?

Let me know. I'll have to start looking for hotels.

A little more research-Richard Dorer State Forest appears to fall withing the Early Antlerless hunting area, so we wouldn't have to worry about obtaining permission to hunt. Anyone interested? T-Zone-what say you?

Thunder storms rolled through town around 8:00 AM today. We picked up 1.7" of much needed rain. On it's way to 93* today.

Looks like it's going to stay hot right through the Labor Day weekend.

A scorcher, right through chickenbuck get together.

Good thing I have a secret weapon. "Wite Bare" brought a little window mount AC unit out to the cabin that will run off our little suitcase Honda generator. grin

I am out of order until further notice. My "stupid people" filter needs cleaning and my "give a damn" batteries have run out.

I think blue hair is a minimum requirement for driving a Buick laugh

Did you guys see that a 16-year old kid got attacked by a wolf at a campground on Winnie? I have stayed at that campground a lot some years back.

That kid has more of a man card than someone with a minivan in the garage. grin

I used to have a Buick. A 1988 Regal GS. It was a fun car and fast at the time. I sold it to a family friend and totaled it within a week. It was a great car when I had it.

Blue hair is one thing. When you have blue hair and wear polyester...well, you've definitly made it to old age. grin
