I traded for a Model 5 "Sambar Stag Carver" a couple of weeks ago. I love the blade design, but really dislike stag. I've looked around a lot on-line and have yet to find anyone who has these "in stock" in order to get an approximate value. This is one of the newly made models.

My question is, how desirable are these with the "Stag Carver" handles? I'm fairly well knowledged on the older models made in Effingham, but not the new "Classic" models. I'd love to have one of these as a user, but can't bring myself to carry a blade with a stag handle. I much prefer the leather handles.

interesting as to who owns Blackjack these days
Quote
Brand Blackjack (USA) Owner/TM Knifeware Inc.
Country, Place of Manufacture: USA
Product notes: Blackjack knives has a storied past. The current Trademark owner is Knifeware Inc. Before that it was owned by SMKW(Blue Ridge) who bought it from Knifeware Inc. USA made Blackjacks are made by Ken Warner and his team at Knifeware. Even when the TM was owned by SMKW, Warner was making the USA produced knives. The are made in limited numbers and are sought by collectors.

Brand Blackjack, International Owner/TM Knifeware Inc.
Country, Place of Manufacture: China, Pakistan
Product notes: Blackjack International knives are most likely contracted through SMKW global factories. The quality will be similar to other globally produced SMKW brands such as Marbles, Colt, and BW Custom. . Price and value will be signifigantly less than Blackjack knives made in the USA.

I bought a knife from them recently. It is a convex grind, well made, of A2 Steel, and worth the price. I bought a close out of the Prototypes.

The USA made models seem to be of equal quality to the Effingham models of old. The Model 5 I have seems to be a great little knife, but I just do not like stag and much prefer the leather handled models.
