Supposedly Big5 sporting goods has an inside track on them and our local store has sold the most of any big 5. Don't know the numbers but I should be gettin a call soon saying mine is ready to buy!

One our local marts had one (bi-mart; regional to the nw), but no ammo. A local gun dealer had a case of the ammo for around $18/box. Took a look at it... not impressed with the magazine retention system... a piece of plastic, had I will break written all over it, but what do I know... thought the same thing about Glocks 25 years ago!

I picked one up 2 weeks ago along with 5 boxes each of the 20gr and 25gr ammo, dint get a scope mounted yet so don't know how it shoots, don't like the cheap looking bolt handle and the action is tight, is light weight and like the 8 round magazine. Was thinking if selling it, can't get past the bolt handle thing, one would think Savage could come up with a better bolt handle

My son has one. He just got it and has only sent a few rounds downrange, but it is accurate. The cock on close bolt takes some getting used to. At 4.5 lbs., is is easy to carry. It will make a good carry gun for predators and varmints when a centerfire is not allowed. Typical Accutrigger feel to the trigger.
Time will tell if it sticks, but I believe with Winchester already making the cases for the nail guns it should be easy enough to make a yearly run of ammo. I am hoping it doesn't go the way of the 5mm Remington.

I won't be buying one until it's available in another rifle than that ugly Savage B-Mag! (And I have 2 other Savages, so I am not a Savage hater.) (And I can't afford that single-shot Browning/Winchester.) If the round dies, it will be due to lack of rifle options, IMHO.

Thanks guys! Have not been able to handle one yet but does anyone know if they are offered in a lefty model? I like the sounds of 4.5 lbs. though! Should make for easy carrying in the snow when walking is tough.Got to keep my eye open now!!

Looking for a lefty also. I don't believe we will see a LH rifle until the caliber has proven it will stay in the market, which I believe it will. But, I'll agree with Calif. Hunter in that if there are no rifle offerings other than what we are seeing now, it could die a quick and painful death.

I have had one for a month or so and it shoots very well. I agree with the comments are poor quality in craftsmanship on the gun, but it is serviceable and I got mine at cost so it wasn't too big of a hit. I run both 20 and 25gr tipped bullets over the chrony and the gave about 25-50fps over advertised. I only put a 9x scope on it but it consistently does about 1". Something to play with for sure, but not much of an all around or big niche filling caliber. T.S.

I handled one at Cabela's. it felt like a toy, very light. Could not work the bolt, as they tie them down. Was not impressed to say the least. I wonder if its length rules it out in other actions.
