Those may go the way of the originals. The owner died in a vehicle accident, unknown if there is someone else to take over. Like the caliber, I suggest you go for it. Jack

Thinking of this for hunting. Would prefer a 26" barrel.
How much would she weigh, as is?

For a bit less than that, you can get a brand new Shiloh 45-70 with a standard weight 28 inch barrel off the rack from Shiloh right now. It won't be there long, so if you want a first rate BPCR to hunt with, go to the Shiloh website.

I had a .50-70 Rolling Block at one time but I never could get comfortable with the way the rifle felt. I love the way my Shiloh Saddle Rifle feels and handles. I figured that since Dave is no longer with us the Lone Stars won't be getting any cheaper. They are great guns but I still prefer the Sharps rifles. I would like to try a Ballard though.

Jack The owner of the company, Dave Higginbotham was pulling his rifle out of his vehicle and it discharged striking him and killing him
