While driving through New Hampshire this weekend I saw a tent sale at a gunshop. I bought some Norma 150 gr soft points in a red box. They are semi spritzer with boat tails .283 dia. Thinking they would make a fair bullet for white tails in my 7/57 Mauser. All I found on a search is they maybe mild steel jackets plated. Anyone have experience with these?
Also I purchased two boxes of the old style Noslers 100 gr and 85 gr partitions with the turned down belt for a 6mm Rem. My boys and I have used the 100 gr bullets and know they work great. I assume the 85 gr partition bullets will do the same. Any one use these on northern deer?
I paid the grand sum of 1 dollar for each box so feel I did ok.

And they may not be steel jacketed bullets. Use a magnet on them and find out for sure what they are or are not and start from there.

The old Norma bullets have cupronickel jackets. Cuperonickel can have a high iron content so will respond mildly to a magnet.

I have about 1000 of those Norma bullets in both 160 and 175gr. They work fantastic on deer. They remind me of the Hornady soft points.

Enough already, just shoot it!

They respond to a magnet very well but I am going to load them up over 4350 and see how they do. They have enough lead showing at the tip to bear out more testing including wet and dry newspaper expansion tests.
