Only shot one hog with the 140 Sierra's, he went running by in 5th gear at about 50 yards and I got lucky. A little far back but pig parts were hanging out the other side. Will report back as experience mounts....it's almost hunting season again.

I have taken a few hogs.
The mature boars have a tough shield over the ribs.
I shot one broadside with an 30 06 and nosler AB. Zipped through, and bang flop.

Did the SGK bullet do similar?

No, the AB's are engineered to imitate the penetration and weight retention of the Nosler Partitions (~70%)

The AB's will lose part of the front lead and the copper skin of the nose to fold back against the shank to lower frontal profile and continue to penetrate. The rear lead and core will not separate. At lower velocities they will form a nice mushroom

The SGK are not bonded and will lose part or all of the lead from the core. At the higher velocities this is much more likely

My random sample of 1 hog with a 6.5 with 140's really wasn't much of a bang flop but more of a bang, bang, bang and he didn't even slow down kind of thing. When I finally caught up with him he had a bunch of .26 caliber holes in his hide. Shook my faith in the whole small caliber high sectional density doctrine. Don't these swine read the ballistic tables?

140g SGK's

The 120g BT's were worst, 1.5" groups
By far the best was the 140g SGK's

Now this years hunt will be combo cow elk and WT deer.
I will carry my sako 75 in 300 WSM most of the time.

When not expecting elk I want to carry the Tikka.
If a cow presented an ideal double lung shot under 200 yards...
250 yards???

What is your opinion???

Use the 260 and any of the bullets you just listed; maybe not the 120 BT. The 300 is not needed for cow elk nor WT. Last year I used my 6.5x47 Lapua pushing the Barnes 127 gr LRX @ 2800 to take a Montana 3x4 mule @ 500 yds and large cow elk @ 450 yds.

140 SGK out of my Blaser R8 6.5x55. Works great for me.

I shot a smallish doe last year with a Sierra 140 from my Swede. Shot was a chip shot - 80 yards off hand, broadside. Cut a rib going in, cut a rib going out. Lungs were gone. Dropped at the shot. Done deal. Good bullets.
