Does anyone have a good idea where I could find stocks for the following:

1 for standard Pre-64 '70 in .270 caliber made in 1953. Prior owner cut for Pachmayr recoil pad, and inlaid a cool compass in this one.
1 for standard Pre-64 '70 in .300 H&H made in 1961. Prior owner refinished, and added his initials to this one, as well as a Pachmayr pad...

Figured this would be the best place to look, since all the pre-64 aficionados hang out here...

I picked up a pre-64 30-06 awahile back with a "customized" stock. Owner had sanded all the checkering off, shortened the LOP to about 12 inches and then re-mounted the steel butt plate. The finest touch was the finger grooves he sanded into the grip area. The sad part is, I could tell it was a really nice piece of walnut. I scrapped it and found a replacement on Ebay.

Just a "what if" here... would a newer '70 sporter or SuperGrade stock fit a pre-64?

I know someone who may want your .270 stock, cool compass and all. I am just speculating here, but please keep me in mind before you trash the current stock.

Thank you for the link... Certainly a lovely stock, but a bit more than I'm looking to spend...
