Does anyone have a good idea where I could find stocks for the following:
1 for standard Pre-64 '70 in .270 caliber made in 1953. Prior owner cut for Pachmayr recoil pad, and inlaid a cool compass in this one. 1 for standard Pre-64 '70 in .300 H&H made in 1961. Prior owner refinished, and added his initials to this one, as well as a Pachmayr pad...
Figured this would be the best place to look, since all the pre-64 aficionados hang out here...

I picked up a pre-64 30-06 awahile back with a "customized" stock. Owner had sanded all the checkering off, shortened the LOP to about 12 inches and then re-mounted the steel butt plate. The finest touch was the finger grooves he sanded into the grip area. The sad part is, I could tell it was a really nice piece of walnut. I scrapped it and found a replacement on Ebay.

Just a "what if" here... would a newer '70 sporter or SuperGrade stock fit a pre-64?

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I know someone who may want your .270 stock, cool compass and all. I am just speculating here, but please keep me in mind before you trash the current stock.

Thank you for the link... Certainly a lovely stock, but a bit more than I'm looking to spend...
