What is the 6.5 Shaman based on, the SAUM?
Anybody shoot'n one?

Its 6.5 Sherman. Rich sherman on LRH developed the cartridge. Its based off of a standard 270 case. Blows out the sides and moves the shoulder .055 forward and uses the 40� shoulder while keeping a .300 long neck. Adds about 5% more case capacity over the 6.5-06 AI. I have one and have just started fire forming loads for it. I now have 75 cases ready to start load development with the 140 Bergers. I should easily hit 3150 in my 24" tube.

I guess. Found out it's off the 8x68s. I was wrong about it being a short action. The XP100 pistol is, but it's chambered in the longer cartridge. Pretty big and fast round. Somewhere around the 6.5x.300 Weatherby Mag..
