I have heard a rumor that Remington is dropping the SAUMs soon. I think that Winchester won the short mag battle but I thought that the Winchester calibers were too long for Remington short actions. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

From what I understand they have no intent on dropping them.

Remington is chambering both the WSM's and SAUM's.

The SAUMs are in the 2006 catalog, FWIW.

They have them to cut? Haven't seen any at my Money Sucking Store. The shorts aren't in stock, and the longs hit hard sailing. The first batch sold came back in trade, recoil the culprit. I did see some Remingtons in the Winchester Short Magnums. Go figure.

The SAUMs are in the 2006 catalog, FWIW. Yeah, and Winchester/USRAC put out a 2006 catalog, too. I have two of them...

I don't who is dropping the SAUMs, but our local gun emporium is clearing out Ruger 77s in SAUM calibers for $399. I suspect they aren't going to be getting any more in...

Don't shoot the messenger. As has been discussed previously on these forums, Ruger has in fact dropped the SAUMs from their line. And while on the subject of Ruger, they've been known to put guns in their catalog that never saw production also.
Remington may well be pulling the wool over all of us, but by the current look of things they are currently, or are planning on, chambering both the WSM & SAUM lines.
This is the internet, I could well be wrong or lying or both, though I'm not prone to lying. I also heard the sky was falling and the ozone layer is shot. And now they're saying barbeque will give you prostate cancer.

Aw Shucks! If barbeque really does give you prostate cancer, Hell needs to create a wider gate and the carpetbaggers can plan on re-taking the South.

I just downloaded the CDNN catalog from their website, they do not show any Remington UM or SAUMs.
CDNN gets a lot of discontinued models. For example, there are a flock of Winchester M70s for sale at pretty low prices.

That rumor is around...I heard it here locally, and posted the same question here a week or 2 back. My local dealer claims he got a memo from remington stating that very thing, and also the RUMs. Folks on here inquired dirctly, and were told differently. So for now, its just rumor.

Although I am not a fan of the newer "short" type mags, I think Remington's design is actually better than the Winchester version.

Based on the recent news of Winchester's demise, I would be shocked if Remington dropped its SAUMs. There seems to definitely be a demand for short-action magnums and Remington would appear to have the corner on this market now that Winchester is no mas.
Only a fool would sell an accurate .30-06

I think that Winchester won the short mag battle In light of the fact that USRAC/Winchester rifles are out of the picture, the WSM's may have won the battle, but the SAUM's my win the war, especially if Olin can't get the likes of Ruger to chamber them.................just my 2 cents. Wally
