Good afternoon.

My Kimber 8400 classic select in 338WM is at the gunsmith. It wears a new Truvelo match grade barrel. Here is a link to the rifles they build, http://www.truvelo.co.za/armoury/content/sniper-rifles
The guy told me that they hand select the match grade barrels that complies to certain specs, air gauged and lapped. The action is trued and barrel fitted by them. Another gunsmith is opening the barrel channel slightly and bedding the action. The service at Truvelo is great and I was assured that if I experience any problems with the barrel (accuracy) they would fix it. The reason why I kept the rifle 338WM was 2 things: I do not have to re-license the rifle which can be a painful process around here and the fact that on a single hunt you can come across anything from Warthog to Eland, and shooting 250s at around 2800fps you still have quite a bit of energy downrange.

THe rifle is going to be fitted with a Bushnell 6500 elite x50 scope on Talley mounts. I am thinking of having an adjustable comb installed. Do you guys think I will gain anything by having an adjustable comb on the rifle for more consistent cheek weld?

I know the best way is to check it myself first but I though maybe you guys do have some experience with adjustable combs and the advantages thereof.

Thanks

Pieter

I have a couple of rifles with big scopes (in tall rings) and do not have any adjustable cheek pieces. There are two of them that I plan on adding it to though, in the near future, because they are kind of a pain to shoot from prone.

If you want to add it now, it will not hurt anything, that is for sure.
