Tough to beat an open flame and lotsa fuel.
In my youth,I was paid to start Forest Fires and I pinched myself daily,at the amazingly grand fortune. Happiness is a lit drip torch,a good pair of corks and 10 gallons of fuel in a backpack.(grin) Being close enough to hear every "snap" "crackle" and "pop",just mighta added sumptin' to it too. The floor and NW reach of the A Shau Valley was once mostly covered with elephant grass. Biggest damn fire I ever made on a windy day and the first/last time I ever flew thru a fireball. Strange place to find yourself.
I am..........disturbed.

A fusee and a drip torch are great entertainment. "Dinosaur eggs" are pretty good watching as well.

Any bully problems over here?
Did we all trade in our .243's for 7-08's yet?

Travis Short answer, Nein! Longer answer, Now that B has got rid of all his 24's, everything here is peaches and cream. I even thought I heard a gate squeak on its hinges during his last post. Next thing ya know he will be slummin a blue steel and wood Mauser, with WAM's in 7 x 57! GWB PS: I do have a 243 win on the way in IIRC. First one in several years.

Gee',
As per always, points awarded for the oblivious hilarity. Laffin'!
Perhaps consider throwing a Golf Cart in the fray, some Jeff-O Field Care "Tips" in sweltering heat and your version of "Taxidermy".
Bless your heart.
BEST Thread Evah!
'hunternm',
You sick,sick...sick SOB,baiting Gee' in sucha manner.
Laffin'!
dube',
She's only doing the best she can...with what incredibly [bleep] little she has to work with.(grin)
DD,
I cain't believe they actually paid us kids to torch schit and tempt fate in sucha manner...as it was the sweetest of music to my ears.
'Course they had us climbing "Super Trees" too and busheling 'cones for Brood Stock and we never thunked nothing of it,being 150'+ up without a rope. Not certain you could let kids do that schit today, but you prolly still could with Mexicans. Laffin'!
Fought a fair amount of fire, but it weren't ever as much fun as starting 'em.
I do NOT miss riding a Whirly Bird daily.
SLM,
It's plum amazin',how many different things fires is good for.
I hear rumors that it's raining along The Milford and mebbe there will be opportunity to perfect Chromed Blurtitude, here in a coupla days.
Film at 11:00.
'slave,
I'd be curious to see what a full-on 750gr A-Max snout impact would yield, enroute to it's exit in the stern.
Pedestrain velocity,I know...though I remain curious.
'flave,
Gee' is being a bully,by really rubbing in the "merits" of Texas and forcing us to suffer the angst of livin' vicariously. Laffin'!
Have never heard of a "7-08",just WTF is one of them?!? Belted? Long action?
Thanks!
'gwe,
Cheer up,I've suffered both Mouser and Winchester 243's. The TC blows 'em away.
Still washing my hands with Clorox, tryin' to get rid of the smell.

Sir, Be sure and bring your cooler, as the meat is quite tasty, and there will be no hanging to cool here in May. and that is in the "Shade" near where you will be hunting. Direct sun is a little more toasty..... Yup, 113 degrees is a might warm. But at least the humidity will be about 30%. Be sure to have plenty of refreshing libation on hand........ Best, GWB

I too have suffered a Mauser in .243, but got surprisingly good service out of a push feed Winchester .243...at least until the squiggly things in the barrel started to disappear . The Icon really is impressive, but not well accepted in polite company , so it sits in the rack whilst the .223AIs get all the phun. Might haul it out again one day if I go to shoot anything big.

If you take a 7X57, and erase the stupid, you'll have a 7-08. They're really neato. Travis
