...saw one yesterday at the Houston Gun Show, in .30 Herrett. First time I have ever handled one. The action seems relatively slim & lightweight, but the shaping and finishing of the action seems rather crude. Anyone have any experience with them? Price wasn't too bad, but I passed on it.

Falling Block works actions are very well made stuff. I have one in 30-40 Krag improved and it is very accurate. I think if I remember right they were made in 3 different sizes. I see on for sale every now and then on the net but they are never cheap. I would not care much for that caliber either but it could be rechambered fairly easily to something that would be better.
