When the primer goes off in a Lee Loader you don't hear anything
for a while.

A late 1960's vintage primer sounded more like a very close .357 Mag gunshot when hit with a hammer inside a garage with no hearing protection.

Surprisingly loud (at the time), but doesn't contribute to the sound of a gunshot when used properly.



I can relate as I learned the hard way that a 209 primer is a ok louder than you would think when it's chopped with a hatchet. Of course the hatchet cuts it in two and part can end up embedded in the middle of your forehead. Also causes quite the argument between mom and dad when he insists on pulling it out wih a pair of pliers before going to the ER. Not to mention the whipping when you get he from the hospital
