I think it's a 1928 Model 1899G. Sadly, it's D&T'd for the scope, plus a few extra holes in the top of the 22 inch barrel. Bore is in great shape, however, and although there's plenty of wear on the outside, case colors on the lever are still quite good. Weaver 4x scope has clear glass.

Any idea what it's worth?

It's a great looking shooter. The worth of that 250-3000 with a K4 Weaver is dependant on how well it shoots.

I would have liked to have seen that rifle in the day with the scope that was on it originally.

I'd love to shoot it. I can't find any ammunition! Scheels, Cabelas, Sportsman's Warehouse - no one has it here locally.

My local shop always has a couple boxes on the shelf, last fall a box was getting close to 40 bucks. A friend was at a gun show and picked up some custom loaded 35 Winchester for me, it was only 35 bucks. It's new brass properly head stamped. The guy making the hand loads is in Florida. All of the components are available, maybe he would make you up a batch? Want me to find his #? Joe.

I immediately recognized that scope mount... it's a Weaver "Swing-Out" mount marketed 'way back in the late 1950s. I've got one on my Alaskan Model, pre-'64 Model 70 in .338 Winchester Magnum with a 26-inch barrel.

You can pivot that scope off to the LEFT and use the iron sights, then pivot the scope back on the rifle & "click" it into place... and it "holds" it's zero perfectly.

It is more often found on heavier caliber, heavier recoiling rifles and useful for "close" shots on dangerous or any big game when a scope might be a hindrance rather than a "help" due to the short range from the rifle to the game.

Thanks for the offers of assistance, but that 99 went into a trade for a shotgun I've had my eye on.

It was quite an eye-opener, though, to see how difficult it is to find factory 250 Savage ammunition!
