I started changing out the generators on my Coleman lanterns. Took me a good half hour yesterday to get one changed. mad

Anybody have any helpfull hints for installing lantern generators. Getting the cleaning rod to hook is a B#@$%.

Thx Rooster. That video makes it look much easier than it really is. The problem is that you're working with almost zero clearance between the generator and the bottom fitting. I finally got the cleaning rod to hook with the aide of some scotch tape and a small set of tweezers. Maybe the next one will go easier. I've got 5 more to do.

I'd be thrilled if I could talk my buddy into installing propane cabin lights. He's concerned about the fuel cost. He's basing this on the propane lanterns that use the 1 pound tanks. We run through around 5 gallaons of lantern fuel a season. Last year I spent about $35 for fuel. I'm sure the permanently installed propane lights would use less fuel.

Our new neighbor is thinking about putting in solar panels.

I hope you get to stay home too, but I am guessing from the sound of it that you will have to go back.

Take care and thanks,
Brent

I do go back, this is just a break, this is a unique assignment I have, not easy to get. I'll be home for a couple weeks, come back over here, then be home for good in March. 2.5 years after that, I'll be Mr, not SFC!

Anyone ever try to fix a trail cam? I took apart my Truth Cam 35 because it hasn't worked for over a year. I left it out and the weather got the best of it... It didn't work but it was worth a shot.

never tried, I know I couldn't fix one. I have been looking for a broken one to use as a decoy camera though.

archery season opened this morning about 45 minutes ago, I'm at the kitchen table eating cereal with my son. we'll be going antelope hunting this after noon with his uncle. should be a good time

Do the secret ranch. We got two this morning by 0813. We found them way down on the south part near the border. Good luck.

Are you guys up north seeing any scrape activity yet? I've got two young bucks that have been going hot and heavy on a scrape out back for about 10 days or more now. Seems awful early, but if they are doing it down here, I would think they would be doing it up there. I need to get some more cameras out.

I secured permission to hunt a tract of land south of Lakeville, Mn. Landowner seems like a real nice guy and really wants me to kill some deer out there. I tried to offer up some sweat equity labor in exchange for letting me hunt, but he said no-just go shoot some deer. He say's he's crawling with deer and turkeys, so if this pans out, I'm in pretty good shape. Hoping to scout it next week. Thinking this will be for muzzleloader season. Can't wait to check it out.
