Please excuse my ignorance, as I've never used traps before. I bought a Little Griz trap, The spring seems so strong that it would crush an animals foot, rather than just hold it. Any info would be greatly appreciated,

Could be that nobody knows about it. It was new to me... but then again what I don't know would fill many volumes! Is this the one you are asking about? HERE Sorry I can't help, but if this is the right trap maybe it will remind somebody. Free bump from Sweden anyway! John

It don't crush there paw its a great trap and that style of trap has made people coon trappers cause there so easy . But they have there place sometimes thoughu also need to use other traps coils longg springs like if u r running water sets like pocket sets or if ur setting for coon fox or cats but I run a mix bag line
Take a kid huntin /fishin/trappin/shootin, you won't regret it

I have caught 100s of coon in griz traps. It does not crush the paw. And they cannot chew blow the jaw. I don't know about cirucaltion issues. The idea is not to release them alive. And there is no worry about catching dogs. You can bait so as to avoid cats. A great humane trap.

I've not seen any of the dogproofs "crush" a paw/leg. If you let a coon loose out of a Duke DP, the run away like nothing ever happened to them.

And while they are "dogproof", they are not "catproof". Advantage being that the cat was released angry, but with no harm. They don't crush legs. I've never skinned one that had leg damage any deeper than some matted fur.

It was all moot anyway, cause only box traps can be used here in Wash State, which leaves me with a trap I can't use. Should have checked the Regs first. Live and learn,
