Ok the idiot Gov of California signed a bill banning lead.
I shoot a 257 Ackley that loves 120 grain Noslers.

Well I guess I better start looking for a new bullet. Anyone out there have any suggestion's.

I want a good bullet maybe Barnes any and all ideas welcome.

Dam libs can we just give them from Sacramento down and run the top half of the state as conservatives.

So we can go back to logging hunting and fishing and we wont even fire our Head fish an game officer for hunting a different state for Mountain lions. Because it would be legal in the new state.

Too bad Barnes quit making their Maximum Range Expansion (MRX) bullet. It had a Silvex core instead of a lead core. Silvex is tungsten-based and denser than lead, IIRC.

Maybe this move by California will encourage Barnes to bring back the MRX or encourage other manufacturers to produce bullets with similar non-toxic cores.

If I were you. I wouldn't look for a new bullet. I'd look for a new state.

Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a hunting license and that's pretty close.

Mauser Hunter

You got it. The state is nice has some good people but we get out voted by Sf La. We are presently looking to relocate but it is going to be a few years as I need to retire first.

Jocko MRX bullets might be on there way back as we in this crazy state are going to need to shoot something.

I lived there for 40 years. I should have left long before that.

Now you have lawmakers in CO with some Kalifornia ideas on gun laws.

I'd look at the Tipped TSX

Ya I live in Nevada and we usually follow up with what ever laws California does but i don't think this will be one of them. Barnes bullets are really good, one time it even stoped the meat grinder lucky we have a Cabelas in town. My friend uses them in his t/c black powder gun and they hold together really well and still expand. Good luck hunting out there.

Keep in mind that the lead-bullet ban does not go into effect until 2019. I hunt in the area in CA that has a ban in effect already. I use TTSX bullets that work OK. Shoot up the rest of your lead bullets ASAP, then explore TSX, E-Tips, Hornaday's Lapua Naturalis etc. I'm very interested in the Woodleigh Stabilized Brass bullets for my 9.3x62 and .338-06. I believe they will work great for pigs and black bears. More bullets should come on the market and drive prices down a little (hopefully). Meanwhile, the CA Legislature will continue to slice away at our rights. But to tell the truth, once the Gov. signed that bill, I heaved a huge sigh of relief and felt immediately safer!! mad I would like to know the name of a CA legislator who has the political moxie to introduce a hunter's bill of rights? I would support such a bill in every way possible.
