As long as this thread is starting to wander,
We gave youngest daughter a "Funky Chicken" alarm clock when she was still at home. She absolutely HATED that thing, but SWMBO and I laughed our butts off every time it went off. Been too long now and I can't remember it's whole spiel.
Myron Did go something like this: "Hey.... Wow.... come on baby....wake up and dance with me!". My neice had one of those darn things. I laughed so hard I still hurt.

Mine is wrinkled, and its over 50, and works.

Guess I'm dating myself....but I have a wind-up Big Bend that just clangs loud enough to wake the dead. Usually use it only when camping as my "real" alarm clock I'm married to (gets up at 5 AM no matter what).
Never could stand those electric clocks or phone alarms that try to be "sensitive". I need a clock that almost knocks you out of bed with it's alarm.

Here's one that I still have. My 1980's vintage flip/fold camping alarm clock is as big as cell phone.

This inability to hear alarm clocks is serious enough but I can't hear smoke detectors.
I use my cell phone, under the pillow, as my alarm. The only problem I have with that is the fact that I also have one of those vibrating smoke detectors under the pillow too. The smoke detector is wirelessly connected to the actual detector which is in the hall. So when using my cell alarm the first thing I have to do when it wakes me is to determine whether there is a fire or can I calmly get up from the bed, maybe even hit the snooze.

Dumped mine and every other clock in the house tht was`t tied to something else - microwave, stove, etc when I retired 7 yrs ago. I know when it`s time to eat and time to hit the sack. I lived by the clock for 40 years, everything can wait until I feel like getting to it now.

Got hit the first time in '88, remember sending Mom to town to buy me a new clock radio while I was laid up recovering.
Still got it to this day, sad many new products aren't built to last, with some even specifically manufactured to fail after the warranty expires.

Doesn't matter what time I go to bed, what time zone I wake up between 05:30 and 06:00. Don't need an alarm clock.

What are those things, anyway? I barely remember-
Neither me nor my wife have to get up to the sound of an alarm anymore, unless it is to catch a plane to somewhere fun, or to go hunting. Then, we just use our iphones.

Mine is going on 17 months... Gets me up every morning! My dog rarely gets up before me and most of the time he'll take a nap on the couch while I'm having coffee. He sleeps good so he can wind up his ultra hyperactive motor that runs form mid morning to late evening.
