I had requested some ivory micarta to be used on a knife I'm having made. Maker called last night and said when he cut the block open it had tiny black specs in it. He forwarded me that this may happen. My question is does all ivory micarta do this or just some ?

Some "natural" micarta's will have it.
"Natural" meaning the cloth or linen used is un bleached. Most colored micarta they will bleach the cloth prior to making,this allows for a better grab of the dye,true to color. Natural,the color of the resin is your color.

Bob Dozier explained this to me,this way,in 2005 when the NY Knife show was still in NY.

Is there a supply that you know of that doesn't. I would prefer a yellowish color if it could be found
