Has left the house.
Founder of the AFL and Houston Oilers and owner of the Titans, like some other greats, failed in his quest of a Super Bowl ring.

Ok, I'll say it for the Fire members who don't mind.
Thanks for the good times Bud. May you rest in peace.

Founder of the AFL and Houston Oilers and owner of the Titans, like some other greats, failed in his quest of a Super Bowl ring. It's a small group..... the owners with SB rings. It's a DAMN small group....... the guys that had the guts to take on the NFL and start their own league. And the second group will never be expanded.

It will be interesting to see who steps up and leads this team. Bud had 2 daughters and a son. It's been said that Bud would leave the team to his daughters and son's (who preceaded him in death) family. The Titans organization have maintained they have a "plan in place" post Bud, but never elaborate. The daughters have publicly said they have no intrest in operating the team....one of Bud's son in laws was asked to move to Nashvegas to run the team a couple of years ago and declined. Bud does have a grandson who has worked with several of the Titans execs recently. He will more than likely be the one stepping up at some point, but lets face it, he graduated from college in 2006.
Plus, there will be an inheritance tax on franchise valued at $1bil . Bud bought his way into the AFL for $25k. The alternative would be to cash out and sell, but I think this scenario is unlikely.
Its interesting how little national media attention his death has received. It took them 40min to mention it last night on Monday Night Football. That's hard to believe when you count up all of Bud's football accomplishments. Most don't, and will not, remember all the things this guy did for football over the last 60yrs. Not to mention the countless jobs and opportunities he brought to Houston, and 16yrs ago to Nashville. Luv Ya Blue......
