Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

I have taught my son to be respectful and thankful, to love the Lord and family and always shoot a remington 700 bolt action rifle

I love my son so much and we hunted hard today and had a blast. We sat and joked about all of our memories afield over the years, and we have had some good ones. Didnt see any thing this morning hunting at home, so this afternoon we went to my 2 man ladder stand at my new farm.
Tyler has killed 5 bucks since he was nine and now at 13 we were looking for his first doe ever and we got her and she was a good one.

we had a doe and spike come out at 300 and then this doe came out at 258 yds meanwhile i hear something coming from the house i told tyler wait we may get a closer shot well it was landowners 2 dogs i was like crap the doe stayed there looking and looking 1/4 too us
heck i had one dog on the ladder whining for us while the other wandered around. the dogs are good to go home when i holler at them but i couldnt so i told tyler to stay calm
then what happened next was awesome
i told tyler wait till she is broad side and aim high on her then she turned
tyler " i am on her"

tyler " i am on her"

tyler " i have the shot"

me " take her"

boom flop

i watched it through my rangefinder

then i yelled at the dogs and they went home

awesome day in the woods

williamson co doe
dressed 102 lbs
258 yd shot dropped in her tracks
remington 700 7/08 cdl sf in a sps stock
140 nosler partition
max max load of win 760
3050 fps avg

Thanks for the photos. That girl makes my mouth water. Some great eats there and a good shot.

Good Dad job, and congrats to the son! I have only killed two bucks in my years of hunting the rest have been all does. I thoroughly enjoy taking a mature doe as much as a buck!

yes 3050 i can video it through the chrono if you like actually 3050 was 3 years ago i just checked my notes from sighting it in 3030 fps was the avg last week

speer list a load with 145 gn bullet 49 grains of win 760 24" bbl 2930

so with a 140 (less weight) and a lil more than 49 it is very feasible
also bullet is seated .008 off lands
im sure my chrony is off heck i have compared it with pmc's ohler 35 im sure it is off to

it all good

no pressure signs and the load was worked up to carefully
disclaimer never exceed book maximum charges or try this in your rifle

he was so excited next year he want to shoot the 7 saum and 168 bergers at 2765fps and take a real long shot

Well every kid should get a Cast Iron Skillet to go with the rifle. The cooking part should be as important and the rifle sights load group size and what bullet!

Great going on the deer, but I'm not giving any kid a redlined load like that.
