Guys, reloading is no great sorcery. You just have to be careful and pay attention to what you are doing. I would be happy to share my meager knowledge of it with anyone who needs it. If I don't know the answer WE can find it. When I started reloading my gunsmith told me it was like a hobby within a hobby and I have found that to be profoundly true.

John at the Gun Stop is a good guy, just overly cranky. If you give it back to him you will get along just fine. He is knowledgeable and has the best inventory in town and operates over the web too. I have known him for over 20 years since when they were west of downtown Excelsior and his attitude has not changed much over that time.

Sorry to hear that Jeff. To tell you the truth, I think the reloading and the guns are almost two separate business. I'm not positive on that though.

I've never dealt with the reloading side since I've just recently got a kit.

I sent you a PM with three potential sources of the Sig pistol you are looking for. Several were at the MWCA gun show at the State Fairgrounds today.

They are two completely separate businesses. That is why the gun side was shut down when the owner died until the spouse sold the business, but the reloading side was still open.

You won't be giving John any money if you guy guns there.

Thanks for the info and support guys. I will be having questions once I get set up. MILES58 has been mentoring me and has got me set up with a great load for my 300 Savage. The last group I shot at 100 yards had all shots touching each other. 'Best group I've ever shot out of the 99, and that's with a K4 Weaver sitting on it.

It's going to be a slow process of procurement as I round up the needed equipment. I guess next on the hit list will be a case trimmer or a powder measure/dispenser. I don't have to load for anything "weird". Will be looking for dies for 30-06 and 7mm-08. I'll be bugging you guys with questions as I get a little closer here. Do any of the Minnesota boys know where I can get a pound of Varget? I owe MILES58 a pound of powder and some bullets for his components that I used. I checked Fleet Farm the other day, and they carry Varget, but are out of it. My son JustOneGunner runs a couple AR platform rifles, so I suppose I might end up loading for that some day too.

I have some nice 30-06 dies for you that have been sitting on the shelf since I quit shooting a Garand in service rifle matches. PM me. They are RCBS and the price is your gas to get 'em.

I use a manual case-trimmer, and the RCBS powder measure that comes with the Rock Chucker reloading kit, with a micrometer attachment. For most of my rifle rounds, I throw the charge a little low and use a trickler to make them all uniform.

I have an unopened pound of 4064 as well, which is a great all-around powder for 30-06 (not sure about 7mm-08, as I don't load it). I am more using RE15 for rifle and W296/Power Pistol for .44mag and 9mm these days. Varget has been a PITA to get, and RE15 was good enough for the AMU to load with for a long time, so I doubt if it's holding me back in .223

I have an extra case trimmer you can have. It just needs a new cutter, and it might be missing a pilot or 2. I'll look if your interested. I live in St Michael, so I can meet you at cabela's if you're in the neighborhood.

Jeff, I got my Varget from Cabela's. There is a place up here I can check for you too. I'm guessing they have it, since it's Mile's favorite gun shop.

I can take a look tomorrow if I think of it. It's on my way home from work.

If you get it from Gun Stop, I'm going to piss myself laughing. Sorry Jeff....but that would be good humor.

1 + I started reloading when my dad ordered a Lee Load All shot gun loader when I was 12. I wore that dang thing smooth out got a MEC for Christmas several years later then started metallic loading. I've never kilt a deer with factor ammo . I use IMR 4350 in my 7mm08 and 243
