I have one of these and its a 2nd focal plane design, it also uses mil-dots on the reticle. Question is at what power level will the mil-dots be useful/accurate?

Furprick,
Perhaps I don't know how to use mill dots. I have a Bushnell 6500 4 1/2-30X50 on my Savage .257 Weatherby. It is sighted in at 300 yards with the crosshair. The first dot down is on at 420 yards with a 12X setting. Keeping it on 12X the next dot is on at 500 yards. The top of the next dot down is on at 550 yards and the bottom of the dot works for 600 yards.
When this scope was on my .224MBOC it was sighted in at 200 yards with the crosshair. On 20X the first dot up happened to hit on at 100 yards. The first one down was good at 300 and the next was good at 400 yards and close at 500 yards.

They can certainly be used as a BDC, but that is only scraping the surface of their utility.
