San Antonio, Texas Mayor Julin Castro is currently negotiating with the United Nations to designate the Alamo as a UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site, meaning that a blue UN flag may fly above the historic shrine of liberty once it falls under UN control.

UNESCO, a specialized agency within the UN, created the World Heritage Site status out of a 1972 international agreement, which calls for nations to join together to manage historical sites through collective assistance.

San Antonio has the opportunity for its five Spanish Colonial Missions [including the Alamo] to be nominated to be the first UNESCO World Heritage site in the State of Texas and the 22nd World Heritage designation in the United States

Isn't owned by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas? Can't picture they will be hoisting that flag any time soon.

I would.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time by the blood of patriots and tyrants.

If being stupid allows me to believe in Him, I'd wish to be a retard. Eisenhower and G Washington should be good company.

I just can't imagine Texans letting this happening.

Last I heard the Alamo is now run by the Texas General Land Office which took control from the Daughters of the Republic of Texas maybe a year and a half back.

Ain't expecting a blue flag anytime soon.

OTOH the other four missions are NPS, dunno what they will do.

"a blue UN flag may fly above the historic shrine of liberty once it falls under UN control."

As a UN cultural site, a blue UN flag MAY fly above the historic shrine, however, it will NOT be under UN control.

As a UN cultural site, a blue UN flag MAY fly above the historic shrine, under Park Service jurisdiction, which is the same [bleep] thing. grin

They will arrest you for taking a leak anywhere around the Alamo at any time...24/7. They have made examples of people doing this because of the disgrace it represents to the fallen heroes that perished there.

Taking a leak on the Alamo wouldn't be a drop in the bucket the desecration of flying a UN flag anywhere around the Alamo would be.

What is happening in Texas? They forget the sacrifices of their forefathers. Looks like Texas is slipping into the democratic life style.

I wouldn't give that flag much of a life expectancy.

Not a clue, unless you mean by "private" the Catholic Church.
