Why do European (Sako/Tikka) have 1:11 twist barrels in .308 and American rifles (generally) have 1:10 twist?

As well, all Husqvarna rifles chambered in 308 Winchester have 1:12 twist bores. Make great 308 Norma Mags!  Ted

Why do European (Sako/Tikka) have 1:11 twist barrels in .308 and American rifles (generally) have 1:10 twist? Because Americans know that the high BC bullets require or at least benefit from the faster twist. Most Europeans can't shoot for schit anyway so they don't have to worry about long range bullet/cartridge combos. I'm not a gun writer. Travis

Yep.
I've hunted on the other side of the Atlantic a few times, and the only guy who was into shooting much past 300 meters was Liam Kenehan, who had a 3-12x Schmidt & Bender on his Heym .25-06 for shooting fallow and red deer out to 600 yards on the estate where he leased the hunting rights in central Ireland. But Liam's Irish, so hardly qualifies as European.
