hahaha!! dave you poor bastard, i shot a good pipline porter out of my nose when this picture pulled up! only cause i did same damn thing last weekend at the farm. I betcha you said... how is it possible that this water feels colder than a bath tub full of ice cubes... cause it always does :-D

I felt it this morning. It's in the air. The humid breeze blowing. The mist falling, the sun that wants to stay in bed longer. The smell of the dying leaves that are now blowing around.

The mouse or squirrel that was moving around in the leaves near my car this morning put me on high alert. Immediately I was scanning the yard for horns until the noise was nearly under my feet.

The knife in my pocket is sharp, the rifles are moved to the front of the cabinet so I can grab them at a moments notice. The ammo is packed and ready.

My step has bit more gidd-e-up as I dress in the early morning. The alarm is set earlier to get used to the wake up. My work has taken a back seat to weather schedules, I'm talking to people that have no intersted in deer hunting about deer hunting. I don't care, they're going to hear about it. They keep asking why I smell so funn and why I have a beard so they might as well hear about it.

It's in the air, it's on the way, it's deer season boys!

And last night there was a small tree in the back that really, I mean REALLY made me mad. I beat the heck out of it though just to show it who was boss of this here land.

So I'm leaving the house to meet up with Goalie (thanks for the '06 dies!) and less than 200 yards from the house, I see a big doe, standing in the middle of a cut bean field. I actually felt kinda sorry for the old gal knowing deer season's coming soon. 'Didn't take me long to get over that though when she crossed the road. I thought I had her for a moment, but she was just a little too fast getting across for me. I only bounced three or four times when I jumped out the door with the knife in my mouth!

Man, I gotta shoot something pretty quick here.

I was talking to gophergunner, and it came up. My private land wouldn't support a bunch of hunters, but there is public land as well in the area.

I'm always game for a Campfire hunt.

It's possible. I'm not sure I can afford to get up to chickenbuck again this year.

So something weird has gotten into me. I started getting my gear ready a full week and a few days before season starts. In the bin of goodies was a bottle of Hoppe's No.9. I shouldn't have sniffed that. There is ZERO chance of me performing at work for the next 7-9 days.

Of course I had a chance, but when I drank it, it was over.

It goes really good with a shooter of Gun Scrubber.

I was in Flee Farm last night and sniffed all the gun cleaners and oils. Pretty soon another guy joined me, then another, and another. A pretty woman walked by and that led to some pushing and shoving, then all out head butting....

My trigger finger really does itch. Literally. Damn those skimpy made-in-China carving kits with the cheap saw. It broke and I cut my trigger finger. Oh, you should have heard the wailing. I CUT MY TRIGGER FINGER! I CUT MY TRIGGER FINGER! Luckily some antibiotic and a camo band aid and I am well on my way to recovery. But it does itch like crazy.
