Hello there. I'm finishing up selling off my deceased brother's gun stuff to pay his medical bills. All the guns and accessories are sold, but I found these two stainless, fluted barrels, boxed, in the back of his gun safe.

Bear with me here, as I'm going from memory.

Barrel #1 is a heavy (5 pound) Remington 40XB 22-250 barrel that he had converted into a 22-250 Ackley Improved before he even shot it. It was quickly retired when he converted the 40XB to a ported 22BR. My bro was wheelchair bound, and I don't think he liked the recoil of the non-ported AI 22-250. The threads seem the same as a Rem 700 barrel. Barrel #2 below is for a Rem 700 and the thread pitch, diameter and length are identical to this one, so I think Rem 40XBs and 700s can use the same barrels. I'm sure someone here will tell me if I'm wrong.

It is a bead blast finish that is a little worn on the muzzle end. It is threaded for sights, with flush screws in the holes. The barrel is a straight taper from 1.180" to .873". It is 27.125" LOA. I do not know the twist.

Included are 132 pieces of fire formed brass and Redding Full Length and Neck Sizing dies. There is no bullet seating die.

$150 picked up in Diamond Bar, Ca. Or I will ship on your dime. Here are the pics.

How the original barrel shot at Remington.

Barrel #2 is a brand new bright finish stainless .223. We only used the highest grade Hart barrels back then, so it's a good bet that's what this barrel is. It is 25" LOA and weighs 3.2 pounds. It is threaded for a Remington 700 action. My bro was having a stainless 700 switch barrel made (.223 Ackley/.223) and I believe this is the second barrel. It does a quick taper from 1.216" to .886" at the beginning of the flute, then is a straight taper to .705" at the muzzle. I don't know the twist.

Just heard from Remington re: the 40X 22-250 barrel.
1. The twist is 1/14"
2. It will fit a Rem 700 action.
