I came across several boxes of 260 Remington 120 gr Accutip ammo a while back. The gun store owner wanted them gone and made me a deal I couldn't pass up. They group well in the 700 Mountain Rifle, as I expected, but what should I expect in terms of terminal performance?
All the literature talks about how consistently they are constructed, but the cross-section drawings show a very thin jacket. They are priced right up there with the other premium loads, pretty close to $40 a box.
I have very little question that they will punch paper targets in a pleasing manner, but what do they actually do on game? Should I just shoot coyotes and such with them, or will they be good for whitetails? How about hogs?

From what I've read, the Remington Accutip is a Hornady SST with a different color tip put in.

They should be fine for deer. I think they'd be closer to a v-max than sst.
I belong on eroding granite, among the pines.

Yeah they are SSTs w/ gold tip instead of red. I have used the 165 ge in my 06 on good sized hogs & Michigan-sized whitetails at approx 2850.
They're definitely poppers... Like old NBTs.

I have used that exact 260 load on four whitetail deer. Killed all four just fine.
All bullets exited, even at very close range (high velocity impact). They showed about a 1 1/2" exit hole, with good expansion throughout the wound channel. All were some form of soft tissue hits, no shoulders.
