Only if said band aid is on your trigger finger or your....well you would lose a bunch of points if that was in the photo.... eek

Heck yeah Ryan, lets open it up to all critters near and far as long as they are legally taken game aminals. Run it through November 30? By then everyone should have had a good chance at a critter.

Side bets are welcome!

99, that's about the coolest deer story ever! Congratulations, not so much for the deer - those are consumed before we know it, but for finding such a fine lady. Well done for the both of you.

My wife has been with me for over 23 years and she's never been with me on my birthday. My birthday falls the day before the opener here in MI. In fact, not even my mom has seen me on my birthday since 1975...I guess that's 38 years now. No big deal - neither are hunters but they understand it, grew up with it - though it took some serious negotiations in the early years. whistle She's still a keeper. smile

Just returned from the rifle range. The 45-70 was shooting 5" to the left. Must have gotten bumped somehow?

Shooting facory loads in the 06 this year. 165 Gr Federal Fusions. They shot to the same point of aim as my reloads. After firing 2 fouling shots with some old ammo I had I tried the Fusions. Fired 2 shots and they were touching each other. Two inches high and 1/2" to the right of the bull. Good enough for me.

Just got out of the bushes with good and bad news. Bad news is, there aren't many deer around I don't think. The good news is....there is PLENTY of buck sign in the woods.

I did have so does on camera, just not a lot of them. I am confident in the stands tho, and the will produce if a guy sticks it out.

Jack and I also found an old stand in a hellova spot. We fixed it up with high hopes.

I wish those of you hunting areas with low, scattered populations luck. You have a hard time swinging a whiffle-ball bat without hitting a doe where we're going.

Hopefully, like recent years, the hardest part is the patience to NOT shoot until you see one you really want.

I read the Duluth paper when I got back to my mom's place. The warden in the area I'm hunting said the numbers are way down. He said he'll see 50-150 deer a night on the roads. All year he's been seeing 3-5 a night.

We did see a HUGE buck with his nose stuck up a does bootie on the ride back Lino though.

Just checked the trail cam's on the computer. I did get some pictures of does. Probably 4-5 does on two different cams. I did get a lot of pics in daylight which I'll take as a good sign. There are a couple of pics of a 4 or 6pt. I can't tell with the camera angle. They're all at night, but it's a healthy looking deer.

If I get time I'll post some pics tonight. Jack and I found an old deer stand along a rive that we fixed up. It has potential. He had a great day in the woods. He got to shoot a shotgun for the first time, and even hit the pop can. He also shot the .22 Buckmark pistol. No hits but he thought it was fun.

And the topper...he got to drive down a logging road, without sitting on my lap. I think that made he year so far. smile

Deer have been very thin were we hunt south of Wabedo lake....
Has made the last five years hard to sit all day.... I see the extended weather forecast looks promising...
Seems like every year we hear less and less gunshots around us.. Hoping wolves dont move in like last year, push the deer out... I think one big problem we have is everybody around us have left and now hunt somewhere else cause of the wolves... Seems like the deer for the last 5 years are not on the patterns they used to be prior...
Will see what happens...
